Big Trouble in Little Towns Pg.14
As we’ve said before, the world of Intercardinal is based on the tales, myths and religions of the real world, but tweaked a bit so that we have more creative freedom for our stories. As a result, we base a lot of our locations on real-world areas, but change the names to titles we feel evoke the spirit of what the people who live there value.
For example, Ai’s country of origin is Lung Kwok, which is our version of China. “Lung Kwok” is Cantonese for “Dragon Nation,” since dragons obviously play such a big role in Chinese folklore and are even associated with its ancient emperors. Now that you know that, why not look around and find out what “Kwong Zan” means? To help you narrow down your search (since China has so many spoken dialects), Lungese is based on Cantonese.
